crafty deck hand

I have all the tools needed for this quest, the hammer, the nails, and the glue. I also have crafts.carpentry to level 10, but when i try to pry the boards in the warship, it says that i just manage to gouge out a few splinters. Anyone know why?

i kept getting that message and figured it must be a different skills to get the board, i had the 10 levels, i didnt know what coopering was but i knew that furniture,turning and whitling did not sound right so i advance coopering from 10 to 15 and after another few tries i got a boards
i was having no luck until i advanced this, might be because it raised my overall cr.ca level but i dought it :P

Through the luck of TM'ing I actually found out exactly what skill it was.

cr.ca.coopering

Also I was thinking someone might have done the quest just before and the wood technically doesn't have any boards to pry loose yet. Have to wait awhile for them to "respawn" or something. But that is definitely the skill to pry them loose.

I'm thinking it's an actual skill check where it's the bonus, not the actual level, that is the determining factor. Depending on your basic stats, you might not have had the same bonus as the original founder who was able to do it with 10 levels.

Hmmm did they make this one harder. I'm having a lot of trouble with my current character with a 121 bonus in coopering. Does anyone know what the new bonus needed is, if they changed it? I'd rather not spend more xp on a skill I'll probably never use again if I don't have to.
