Hi all, I am just starting out and have been doing some reading and following advice. Did a quest but did not find out about it in Discworld. Seems to me to have found out about it I would have had to hang around in hundreds or thousands of locations waiting for some NPC to say something which made some sort of sense and then by some miracle put it together with some cryptic comment made miles away by some totally unrelated NPC in a location that has no connection I can see with the origin of the quest!!! Is this how they all work? Am I missing something? Have been in other text adventures where it is more like some NPC say to you when you enter room. "Here turkey, deliver this to xyz and I will give you some pittance as well as letting you keep your head". Advice/comment would be appreciated.

I don't have any advice, but my comment would be that all the quests that I've done have been pretty convoluted.
I don't know if reading the books (I haven't) would help, but I don't think I could have finished any of them on my own without the various "cheat sheets" available both on and off the Discworld site.
Or maybe I'm just exceptionally numb...lol.
Good luck!

Some of the books help - or should I say you'll catch on to a few things having read the bastards. But you have this site and also the quest page on the Discworld MUD to provide clues and guidance. This place is better though.
