Slight change with the above quest. Vimes no longer gives you the nice pair of good leather boots. Shame, as these were some hard-wearing babies!

he wants me to get him a pair of cardboard soled boots. does anybody have any idea where i could get a pair? from a shop or npc?

The boots are available several different places, but my favourite place to try to find any kind of boot is under one of the bridges along the Ankh where the beggars have a camp. Search the pile of boots there and you never know what kind you will find.

Just a quick note...
Vimes does give you the high quality boots as longas you are the first one to do the quest after a reboot. Look at him before you give him any boots before you do the quest and wait to give him boots until he has them on if you really want them.

Where is this beggar's camp that you can search a "boot pile" of?
I know that under almost all of the bridges around God's Collar, items randomly accumulate, including varieties of boots, but this doesn't require searching, just going down at either end of every Dog's Collar bridge and "get"ting the boots!
