I've done this quest and you don't need a shovel, you need a big sword then walk down long street and kill all the warriors you can find. Once they are all dead you get the quest.

Right....
First off, Long street has more than one side to 'walk down'.
Second off, there are no warrior NPCs in Bes Pelargic. The most youre gonna find around that area are ronins, samurais, merchants/guards, and noblemen guards.

I'll look into it and post if I can find any hints. I'm assuming it'll be an old fashioned "look at the room" job.
was any part of BP changed recently?

Its near divine flowers.
However, syntax repair only says 'repair<object>'
Its a pot hole. Missing cobbles. rocks and shovels haven't worked in so far.

You could get cobbles in Sator Square last I heard.

I found it go to the grey barrier in Sator Square and 'get cobble'. Now get a shovel(I'm not sure if this is needed or not, but one can be purchased on Ettercap Street in the tool shop). Go to Serpentine Way in Bes Pelargic and look around for a room description talking about the street being damaged or beat up('look street' to verify you're in the right room.) Now just 'repair street' with the cobble and shovel in your inventory. There might be a skillcheck for the repairing, but I'm not sure what it is. Can't be terribly high.

I've been stalking BP the past few days trying to get this quest to work, I've done it before but seems to be not resetting lately or something. Going up and down Serpentine Street in the verbose room description, the room 1 NE of the Language Institute says it is partly damaged. However using the 'look street' command it says the road is perfectly normal, and you can't repair it either. I've gone up and down the street many times using 'look street' in every room but they are all fine. After finding the same thing multiple days in a row I doubt that it is someone just doing the quest right before me. Anyone have any luck on this lately? Perhaps some new skillchecks are required as well

Just completed this within the last hour. Worked fine; followed what Blah said.

BTW, watch out for the guards or you'll get this:
The Imperial guard takes a dirty shovel from you.

Well, I'm currently trying to get this one done. I found 2 places on serpentine where the room description shows the street as being damaged. However, 'look street' shows the same message as all other rooms, and 'repair street' comes back with "You cannot repair a ground."

'repair pothole' worked for me.
> l street Stomped flat by years of pacing, it has become as hard as year-old stale bread. And probably tastes just as good. > l surface The surface of the street is beginning to form potholes because of all of the damage done to it. > l potholes Looking at the street here, you realise that quite a few of the cobbles are missing, forming a large pothole. If only there was a way to repair it... > repair pothole A Creator Collector Card appears in your inventory with a flash. You quickly fill in the pothole, then cover it with the cobble until the street has been repaired.
