Mmm...
Passing on a rumor that I heard recently (higher level warriors snarking on the warrior channel about "How Great the Mud Used to Be When We Were Young")
Rumor said that the posting of ?this quest help site? was the reason that most of the great rewards were taken away from the quests. Is that true?

There have been many quest lists over the years. You can't lay the blame entirely on this one.
Quest lists were a factor in the decision.
Quest xp made it too easy to quickly create a harassment alt with high skills.

This page however, is the one which was pointed out to Ceres and in its old form, had about 60k hits and was then growing at a rate of about 3k hits per week. This page also had been updated to include several new quests which had only been introduced in the last few days. Realising that this was a sign of a) Widespread quest list usage, b) Insiders reporting quest information, c) An extremely unbalanced system which was favouring some and giving them great advantages over others, while the non-abusers were left behind and unable to compete equally, a decision was made to remove quest xp and rewards. This decision had been coming along for a while, and would perhaps have happened further down the track (years, maybe, but still coming regardless), had this site not been pointed out to the Powers That Be. While the blame for removing quest xp is not entirely that of this particular site, it is the proverbial straw (and a large one at that) which broke the camel's back.

Removal of quest xp has improved the quality of the Disc.
Wish it had happened much earlier.
Being able to purchase former quest items has also improved play.
Quests are still just as much fun. Being able to share possible quests and get help with the syntax with others who enjoy quests increases that enjoyment.

I call it "Re-Balancing" personally.. as someone that has lost out several times to really badly done and secretive downgrapes, i find this at least gives me a leg up, reward or not

I have no problem with the removal of xp from quests. I think it's just fun just to do them. Seeing my "hero" statue in the Apex club slowly rise from "completely unknown" to "slightly known" is a big kick.

I Agree wholeheartedly... some of the quests are so incredibly funny and complicated that just the fun of doing them and satisfaction atferwards is reward enough
it definitely sweetens the life of "idle or kill anything that moves" players
but i weap for there are not enough quests around (never mind the rewards)

On the disc, it is most commonly known that quest lists are the main reason creators took out quest xp and rewards. It is also because of quest lists that many creators have little motivation to code new quests. In the old AM, there were many, many quests to do. After the first quest list came out, creators lost a lot of motivation for coding new quests. And the ever increasing removal of quest rewards is due to quest lists, no question about it.

*sob* It must be so sad and demoralizing for the cres to have more people finding and enjoying the efforts of their quest coding. Is it much more rewarding to code a quest and have few if any find and complete it?

I don't have much time for some of the Creators. The numbers of times I have gone to them for help and been kicked in the face. Who cares! You get plenty of exp from kicking back! Hey thanks!

Cres are a pack of mugs anyway, its been told that cres not only dislike players, some out and out hate them. Yes they have done a great job with the MUD, AND the coding of the DW Mudlib (Which is also distributed and used as a base for other muds) but that doesnt give vegetables like Ceres the right to just be a complete turd to the general populace. I say we need a rotation of Admin/Cres, there are a ton of players now that know not only LPC, but the DW Mudlib inside out, and would probably do a better job than the current team (Anyone remember the Tarnach's recoding?) My 2 penneth worth

Well said mate, well said. I haven't played the MUD in a while and it is down to the cres in a way. I was doing a quest and the whole bloody mud shut down rebooting 10 minutes later. I asked one of the cres what had happened and you'd think I'd shite in his corn flakes! Tossers. Love,

The Admin do a great job against all odds with half the player base complaining about every little thing.
Become a Cre and and fix it from the inside or grow up and and accept what your given. If you don't go whinging and complaining you never need talk to a Cre (except when they are playing) so you won't get any nuts off them.
It would be a dull world if we were all the same so conflicts are going to come up because of the rich tapestry of life, live with it and don't go off crying to mummy!
Adapt and survive.
