It's been a while since I did the quest but I think I used switch cephut with bag, or switch cephut with bag of sand.

Worked for me... But doesn't exclude that you might have to wait after an unsuccessful attempt... There is some reward. If you search the bag, you'll find a beautiful necklace inside...

How would one search the bag - 'search bag' or 'open bag' doesn't seem to work.

Post the description of the bag, it gives you the syntax if I remember correctly. Something like "rummage in bag". Just pos the descript anyway.

This bag of sand is a small, heavy burlap sack. It has been sewn firmly shut, and by the feel of it contains a hefty amount of sand, although something solid may be felt through the fabric. The top side of the bag is plain, except for some symbols indicating the fragility of its contents which you might be able to remove.

Try "syntax remove"?

Yep, it's "remove [thing|object|necklace] from [sandbag|bag]".

My friend tried to do this quest with a 220 bonus in co.ma.sleight-of-hand and a 54 bonus in co.it.traps and failed every time. She boosted her bonus up to 76 and got the quest first try. I had no problems doing the quest with a 213 bonus in co.ma.sleight-of-hand and a 67 bonus in co.it.traps. Has anyone tried experimenting with this?

i fail with a 204 bonus in co.ma.sl, so I'll try advancing the co.it.tr to see what happens.

I did this with a 210 bonus in co.ma.sl and a 72 bonus in co.it.tra
It took me about 5 attempts though.

I managed this with a bonus in co.ma.sl of 203 (using thief's daggers to boost dex). Took around 11 or 12 attempts. My co.it.trap bonus, incase it made a difference, was around 140, though I don't think that actually makes a difference at all, I'm sure people that raised it and got the quest would have got the quest anyway with enough attempts. My burden was at about 30%.
Note: you need a strength of 10+ to open the sarcophagus. I only have strength 9 and no matter how many times I spammed "move lid of sarcophagus", it would not budge. I went to Sek's altar, put a heart on it, got my strength to 10, and I could move the lid fine first time. So if you have low strength, use a heart or get some strength gauntlets, or get a strong friend to open the sarcophagus for you.
Oh, and the trap did a random amount between 900 and 1200 damage each time I fell down. Healing tea is your friend if you're going at this with a bonus of 200 or so and intend to keep spamming until you succeed. Make sure to flick spiders off the north door every time you re-enter the sarcophagus room, the spiders did respawn once while I was doing it!

Is the necklace good for anything?
