When I call up alias I see the ones that are cut short are the ones not working The ones that show the full command work
The cut ones have a $*$ at the end of the first line
So is this a display "thing" or have I got a "brief" setting on somewhere?
You currently have the following aliases: gooutroom: w;s;sw;w;nw;s;d;e;e;e;e;e;e;s;e;e $*$ goroom: w;w;n;w;w;w;w;w;u;n;se;e;ne;n;e $*$ loot: get $arg1:coins & every jewellery$ from corpse $arg2:\1$ arm1: sheathe weapons $*$ doeyes: get eyes from corpses $*$ dr: drink 1/100 from jar $*$ arm2: draw rapier into left hand $*$ doheart: get heart from corpse $*$ gfp: ex backpack $*$ con: consider $arg1:all$ dostick: drop stick $*$ outroom: w;s;sw;e;sw;w;s; $*$

Maybe your client takes ; as a new line? I know zMUD does. You need to switch off parsing so that it doesn't.

AhHah, yes I'm using zmud and I was looking through the setups trying to figure out how to record a macro or alias. This may have toggled something. Problem is what? I don't know the program well enough to know what I've unintentionaly changed If you can offer hints to help reverse this problem I would be very happy to get my aliases back

As Kanz said earlier, zmud reads a ; as a line break.
To tell zmud that ; isn't a line break, put a ~ in front of it.
Like this: alias dostick drop stick~;bury stick~;cast cips~;hold stick

Cannot find "stick~", no match. You do not know any spell called cips~. Queued command: hold stick > You fail to hold a stick. =============== and =============== alias dostick drop stick ~;bury stick ~;cast cips ~;hold stick Changed alias 'dostick'. > dostick Cannot find "stick ~", no match. Cannot find "stick ~", no match. You do not know any spell called cips ~. You fail to hold a stick. ================= Can I reinstall zmud with out loosing any game?

In zMUD, you have 2 little icons beside where you enter stuff, a little screen and a gun. Click on the screen to switch off parsing, then type in your alias, then click on it again to switch it back on again

You can enable or change the quote character under the View-Preferences-Special Characters menu.
The quote character tells zmud not to parse the next character immediately after it.

You can get much cleverer with aliases. For example, I have
nickname mace bluntwep alias k nickname $*$ tar;kill $*$
(If you do something else to start combat, iai say, then add the nickname bit to your iai alias)
and then, for example,
cr: crush $arg:tar$ with bluntwep
This means you can do, say 'k soldier', then 'cr' on its own will crush the soldier, or you can do 'cr soldier 2' to crush another npc who joined in the fight. Add ones for all your other specials along the same lines. If you change your weapon(s) later, you only have to change the nicknames, and not every alias.
Another moderately clever one is:-
alias gf get $2*$ from backpack;fence $2*$ to $1$ which is used to fence - "gf jim dresses, boots, trousers", etc.

Thank you for your help with the single line parce problem, sorted out
Here are some alias'sesss I use. This is a set piece route that takes about half an hour and gets me 30 to 40k xp and 25 to 30 bux The victims are mean mercenaries, poor beggars, low level servants and the occasional accountant. There are other targets too hard for me at the moment so there is room to advance to priestesses and rich beggars Start outside the thieves guild with this alias. It takes you to a tannery up north, this is good to use if you want to sell those cat pelts at 2 bux each. Standing out side the guild.... gothief2pelt ne;n;n;n;n;n;n;w;w;n;n;nw;nw;n;n;nw;n;n;ne;e;n;n;n;w;map
From here make your way north to Endless st and left to Deosill gate, hack-cast-loot ing all the way of course
By now your backpack should be full so it's off to cash in with Jim & Sol at the thieves guild. Standing at the crossroads.... godeo2pelt s;s;s;s;s;s;s;sw;s;s;s;s;s;s;s;s;s;sw;s;s;s;s;s;s;s;s;s;e;e;e;e;e;e;e;e;s;s;sw;s;w;map Standing outside the tannery.... gopelt2thief e;s;s;s;w;sw;s;s;se;s;s;se;se;s;s;e;e;s;s;s;s;s;s;sw;map
Once you've fenced the lot and if you are a Wizard you can..... Standing outside the guild.... gothief2wiz s;e;e;e;se;se;se;ne;ne;ne;ne;ne;ne;n;n;n;n;n;map And advance those Primaries
And back to thieves guild to start again Standing outside UU gowiz2thief s;s;s;s;s;sw;sw;sw;sw;sw;sw;nw;nw;nw;w;w;w;n;map
Enjoy.....

I'm having a problem and it might be a setting in the client I'm using rather than the MUD I had a few alises going like the "dostick" which went like this... drop stick bury stick cast cips hold stick Now the alias stops on the first line I've had the same problem before. It is most likely that your MUD client is parsing the ;s into separate commands itself before it sends the command to the MUD, so instead of seeing this when you set up your alias: <font face=courier>alias dostick drop stick;bury stick;cast cips;hold stick</font> The MUD sees this: <font face=courier>alias dostick drop stick bury stick cast cips hold stick</font> In other words, when you set up your alias, the MUD sets up an alias "dostick" that drops your stick, and then buries a stick that's not there, casts cips, and holds the stick! Now when you use the alias, it just drops the stick. NB: $*$ doesn't tell the MUD to stop processing. It's a variable that passes anything entered after the alias--you can use $*$ multiple times in a single alias. Good luck!

Oh! You're using zMUD! That makes everything easy. =)
There's an icon of a computer in the lower-right corner of the window, beside which is an icon of a gun. Click the computer icon so that it's crossed out with a red X. Now set up your alias. Problem solved!
PS: That security thing is very unfluffy.

Removed queue.
That's the error message I get with an alias I wrote to TM skills I did Aliases for enchant rapier & sabre, cast cips and the flowers oneand read slab and a brochure
Is there a limit on the number of steps an alias can have?
