I thought that killing the sphinx would make it move...so much for going on the hints alone. Now Misty hates me, and I can't get Really, Really Nice now even with the other quests done. She won't play the alphabet game, and gave up her enthusiasm for the withered thingies after a while. I'm still horrible, it seems. 'Misty exclaims: I like really, really, valuable things!' Can anybody help with advice? She doesn't seem to like traditional 'valuables' (gold, silver, Djelian coins etc), and having them swirled into the mists every time is frustrating.

You can't redo any of the misty quests like Restorer of Oddities, Brainbox, or Really, Really Nice.
Reality mentioned this and asked people not to unquest these quests. The only ones you can redo are Riddle Master and Wielder of Klangs.

"You will get this quest when you have completed Tender Hearted, Touchingly Thoughtful, Sadistic Coach, Brainbox and Restorer of Oddities, and Misty Really Really Likes you! If she doesn't, you may have done something to make her dislike you. In that case you can gain brownie points with her by giving her bits of her ex-husband, and playing games with her. If that doesn't help enough... she also seems to like valuable things."
what are the valuable things?!, anyone found out yet, i've tried everything, she wont take anymore parts of her husband since she has "too many already", she wont accept any more picture frames and she wont play the name game anymore, christ knows what else i can give her

ok, the details on the front page are a little out of date. all I can advise you to do isread the plaques carefully. the way to the sphnyx for me was as follows.
climb wall, up,up,up,up,rt,(baby sphinx)out,rt,up (baby sphinx 2)
falling off the wall can cost 600 hp, plus, so have tea ready and dont climb the wall with the wombat in it. DONT DO IT.
The maps i've seen seem out of date.
the wall i climbed was the SE corner.
i think that when the mists change, you have to change direction. You can no longer look left or right, the mist stops you.

edit that.
climb wall up up up up rt up first cub out rt up second cub (with east exit an monocle) out rt up (third cub?or is it the first cub again) out left up (back to second cub? certainly has the monacle exit )
out and right leads to a fall here...
I have the same problem with misty.

ok, some more exploring climb wall up up rt rt (cub with brass bollard)A small brass bollard. It looks slightly tarnished, and more than a little lonely. Odd though it may seem, it seems to exude a sense of sexual frustration! You feel sorry for it. out (cant go left or up from here)
from the bottom if you climb wall and then go up once the only exit is up, left and right are falls up twice you can go right twice to the cub with brass bollard)

Which bit exactly are you stuck on? Sorry for the delay in replying Kanz. I was stuck on which wall to climb. Once my wizard has had a few beers I'll get him down there!

The wombat of death moves around. You can't climb in the room with the BLAQUE PLAQUE (it says on the plaque why) the only other room you can climb in is the one in the se corner. i've seen a map for the netherworld that looks fairly complicated .But i think it seems uptodateish. homepage.ntlworld.com/guiderjo/Pics/maps/Nethwld.gifany other maps which are less of a headache to work out?

Just a few notes about Misty:
1)Attacking Misty is the worst thing you can do. It greatly adds to how much she hates you
2)Stealing from Misty causes her to attack you, which counts as if you attacked her
3)There is no cap on how much Misty can hate you. If she hates you enough, summoning her causes her to attack you, which leads you back to note 1
4)Misty can be broken by useing the alphabet game. If Misty hates you to the point of attacking you, you can say "alphabet game" several times to stall her long enough for you to give her something. Every time you say "alphabet game" it restarts her game playing script
5)Giving Misty a withered thingie lowers her hate by 1 point. Sometimes she refuses to take them, even if she doesn't like you
6)Misty will accept valuable items, and it will improve her affection. Unfortunately, trying to give her items too quickly results in her saying "You're trying to bribe me", which doesn't help you. She has accept turqouise scarab rings, sphinx necklaces, and silver medallions so far. She does not accept money
All of the above is "working as intended", according to Reality. Personally, I think she has no clue how to fix any of it.
