Found a potential quest item. Searching the crack in front of the bank, you dig up an old coin. Haven't yet found anyplace to use it.
"This appears to be a plain, gold coin of some foreign currency that you don't recognise. The coin is somewhat scratched, and looks really old."

Doesn't the sign in the AM post office mention an old coin needed for the quest? (along with a crystal ladle, etc.)

Sounds like old provincial (I think) currency. There is a quest or two that needs those coins. If it is the same type of coin, you can exchange to/from the currency at the money changers on the Street of Bookkeepers.

It's definitely not provincial currency.
I'd found the coin too, and it sits in regular inventory, is (iirc) pack-able, and one's waiting patiently in my vault for me to get back to it.
I doubt it's the old demon summoning quest. I haven't read the sign it's on in a long time, but it doesn't ring any bells. However, its location does make that unlikely.

If you 'l cauldron' at Bwk Ap Endycks hovel on dolmen lane, you see l cauldron 'Like some Lancre witches' cauldron, the black iron monstrosity fills the centre of the room, bedecked with strange sigils, a circle of stones beneath its feet, where the ash of previous fires lies.'
Didn't you need a cauldron for the quest with the coin, dmon summoner? the post office sign says....
Adventurers are called up\.../ gather | | together instruments of power to sedate | | a great beast that lives in the land. | | The weapons needed for this battle are | | an ancient coin, a strange fish, Ankh | | river water, a mystical shell, some | | comfy chairs, the Great Cauldron and its | | Lid and a clear ladle. Once these items | | of power have been gathered, they must | | be taken to a suitable place beyond the/ | city walls, whereupon the shell must b| | blown to bring forth the minions of t/ | beast. ___
So is Genua the new location?

What about that quest up in the Ramtops in that temple where you had to be very, very quiet?

The demon summoning quest was way back, and the coin it refers to was actually the table from the gambling room on street of small gods (removed) so i wouldn't think it would be anything to do with that. Which is a shame, was always a nice easy rewarding one - except getting the d**n frisbee of course...
