As I recall its 'pick my rose'. Chances are you are trying to pick someone elses rose by accident which you cannot do.

I can't remember the syntax but look at 'syntax pick'. Pick rose just tries to get the roses from the room description, not another players.

As Jungelasche2 said, it's "pick my rose". If you don't specify "my" rose it may try to pick the roses that are in the room description, or roses that other players are trying to grow.

How to make a double rose? I can't add any more fertiliser and watering it just makes it larger...

the type of rose is determined by the fertiliser you use - if the one you used didn't make a double rose use a different colour.

I got my rose all ready to be picked, but I can't find the d**n guy anywhere. Is he supposed to be in the greenhouse, or do I have to wander around looking for him?

he wanders around alot, usually pretty quickly. You should see him at some stage or other if you just wait in his house.

Just to confirm/clarify for anyone that didn't see the other post - it is random for everyone, unlike the old quest solutions which indicated a fixed colour/grain packet of fertiliser for everyone, it's actually randomly generated.
I needed a "quite thorny very single", which was a "glittery green" for me.
