Anyone know the bonus needed in climing.tree for this quest? I have a 150 bonus and still can't get up the tree

Might be weighed against what you are wearing like in one of the pig quests near bois, eg carrying too much and a bonus of 180 I couldn't climb the chimney to get in the house, trip to a vault and with not much equipment, eg weapon and shorts, had no problem climbing the chimney. Haven't tried it in the CWC there vaults are expensive.

I climbed the tree with a bonus of 134 but I didn't get the quest, it must only work for a sunny day. I also wasn't carrying much, or wearing much, unburdened 8 percent.

i got a bonus of 176 and 8% burden but i cant climb the tree. Any ideas why?

it's "climb up" not "climb tree" apparently. And I didn't get the quest either..."guest" is probably right about it having to be a sunny day...
My tree bonus is 151 and i just dropped everything at the foot of the tree, then picked it up again when i went back down

I just got up with 'climb tree' so apparently either syntax will work.
I was able to gaze down a see the dragon, but no quest granted. Maybe it has to do with the time of day. I did it during 'evening' and I'm guessing that many have probably tried during 'morning' since the go after once the sun comes up?
Perhaps it must be done while the time description states 'day'.

I likely can't bug-rep this, because they'll want to know why I'm so sure that it's supposed to work.
I'm officially giving up on this one. Which is really upsetting because my friend just did it, less than a week ago, so I know it's still in game!

OK, maybe a little ....mmm, hasty on the whole 'I give up' thing.
I stayed up in the tree while typing that last message. When I climbed back down, I picked up my things, and noticed a cre card in my inventory.
I couldn't find any output that said anything like the usual 'cc card appears in your inventory', or 'don't tell anyone about this'. However, there were 2 apparently random spam messages while sitting up there, and I think this one might be the key:
"The gold cobbles glitter and make the dragon look alive."

I've noticed a number of quests lately that don't give the expected 'you've done a quest' messages. Probably a new system so you don't notice till much later and by this time you forgot all the details so you can't add to a quest list! ;D

ok...here's what i did. I just climbed up, and a cre card appeard in my inventory with a flash. I didn't have to gaze or anything, and I didn't get any other messages.
It was about 7 am with almost no wind and some puffy clouds

I did that about 2 weeks ago and it was approx 10 am and all I did was 'climb tree' (165 bonus and 12% burden) as soon as I climbed the tree I got a crea card and completed the quest. It has to been done in daylight......  |

Did this quest today 14 September 2006. But it does seem somewhat broken.
I can confirm that you don't get the usual message about getting a creator card but had one in my otherwise empty inventory afterward. Also shows up in "score quests". It didn't change my quest points which were 86 before and after.
Tree climbing skill was 25 and burden was 1 % (Stored my items in the vault and dropped what few coins I had before climbing the tree). Time was 8.15 am.
