A bit more detail on how to exorcise would be useful too please. Do you need to hold the items etc...

This quest is a bugger... I just finished, solely through dumb luck, it took me about two hours. But the ghost locked the front door! Hopefully next time I log in it will be open... perhaps when somebody else walks in, or failing that, next reboot...

how do you make the ghost appear? whenever i try exorcising i keep getting 'nothing happens...'. I've been to all the rooms around the house but nothing seems to be going on

It was possibly exorcised recently. If you're in the room with the ghost, weird things will happen while in it.

Done this one with 2 alts recently and really lucked out with the second one - exorcised it on the second go, NICE ;D
First one took a bit longer though. Items don't have to be held, but have to be in your 'carried' inventory (not container). Damage dealt from poltergeist activity 250-300HP, so good idea to advance ot.he to GM before doing this quest, otherwise it is newbie-suitable IMO - and *very* nice XP return if you're ickle.
Best way is to be systematic - for example, try every item with [item1], if that doesn't work then every item - except [item1], 'cos you just did that) with [item2] - etc. Of course, if the ghost laughs/sniggers but no new ghost appears then you've lucked out with 2 incorrect items and can rule those out from the rest of your attempts.
I did find that I sometimes had to wait a while for the ghost or the "not here, move on" clue to show. Messages like "It's eerily quiet - too quiet" - or something like that -or hearing the ghost elsewhere sometimes took a couple of minutes hanging around, which was a bit frustrating.

Is there any way to get out of the house if a ghost locks the door? It's unpickable. I'm not a portaller. I could godmother but I don't want to leave Genua
