They change each time.. no use posting lists...
I've just put mine into characters, and I'll try to solve it... It is like this (and huge...)
AXL GNAQPANVH NG YLHLRNWNPU CL KQGA ZLGDVHB NH PRLC MLPZG

Oh, dammit... O think I've got it (that decrypto machine sure is HOT STUFF...). It would be: THE SITUATION IS BENEFICIAL WE MUST RESPOND IN AFEW YEARS
Problem now is finding the b----y man, as he seems to be scryable only from time to time... Right now, he doesn't let me. And the bars he chooses don't appear in Kefka's/Airk's maps, the only ones there are for Genua...
Wish me luck...

A tip for this one, the shadowy man respawns immediately when the disc reboots. So if nobody kills him or does the quest, you should be able to scry him at any time.

Yeh, got the quest without problems... But finding him is a bit tricky. Sometimes you can scry him, others not. 'gentleman' is too vage a name...
He was in a hidden pub that doesn't appear in the Genua maps, down in one room of Liquor Lane. I've also seen him in the 'Azure', which I haven't as yet found...

So noone can tell me how Im supposed to look it up in the book? It still wont work for me. It says that such a letter does not have a symbol, or some such, so I cannot even get as far as having a jumbled mass of letters! Someone, please help me.

You find the corresponding symbol:
@@# *@# @##
You research something in the code book. >

I enjoyed this one, but was annoyed by my message, because I had to guess it from:
THE M_TH IS _ I_ _ING THE TIGERS
A nice short one, but insufficient data to nail down the missing letters through logic, which was a shame as the rest was easy enough to decrypt manually.
(It turned out to be THE MOTH IS KILLING THE TIGERS which I got on about my third or fourth guess - moth could equally well have been myth or math and the other word had several possibilities, although the double letters narrowed it down a fair bit).

My message was
UYJ GWDJPPS WA RTNI URTSUJ MJ PRAU VJAZITG OJNIVJ MJ VJ SDD GJSG
which turned out to be a simple substition cipher
The dilemma is unfortunate we must respond before we re all dead
To get him to accept it I need to the the aphostrophe thus:
>sayto gentleman THE DILEMMA IS UNFORTUNATE WE MUST RESPOND BEFORE WE'RE ALL DEAD
Hope that helps others.

Hello all you helpful people... I'm having an issue with this quest... At first I tried all that fun piglatin stuff, then read that it is no longer necessary to sayto the shadowy gentleman the message in PL. So my coded message was BFK TJBVFPJE GL KJBGER BFK DUVSL, which I decoded to THE WATCHMAN IS EATING THE ROCKS. As I mentioned I did say it to him in PL, but now I've also tried normal morporkian, no cap, with caps (lower and upper case), with and without proper punctuation i.e. Capital letter at the begining and period at the end... no quest for me. Lemme know anyone. Thanks.

I think the site you used is only giving the first possible solution and not checking for others, and/or ignoring the possibility that a letter might stand for itself (d=d, etc).
The first two letters of the last word aren't used anywhere else and can be any letter not used elsewhere. But it's almost definitely a consonant then a vowel. So the first letter is on of: bdfgjlqrpvxyz and the second letter is o or u.
So what was translated to "rocks" might reasonably be: bucks docks ducks locks rocks pucks
Ducks seems likeliest to me. But there also might be a time limit between starting and solving the quest, so you may have to start over.

Can someone please help me finish this one? I have 'reu nbptqudlzu ly ylmdlmd botir reu dumibmy' which I have worked out to be 'the *a*o*egi*e is singing about the genuans' . I double checked it with this one "dxi fhmqcirwsi wz zwtrwtr hsqud dxi rituhtz" and I'm getting the same results. Anyone be able to help or hint?

Scratch that, I worked it out using the latest quest site.
It worked out to be THE CAPOREGIME IS SINGING ABOUT THE GENUANS.
It's not listed on the new quest site.

Just a quick thing. You can ignore the code book completely. Just make all of the ***@#@ stuff stand for whatever letter you like, you'll still end up with a decodable cipher at the end of it. Saves a bit of time, no?
